Pandemic

On March 15, 2020, the world’s pace came to a halt—and so did Los Angeles. 

This photograph captures the 110 Freeway, a vital artery of the city, seen from downtown just as the COVID-19 pandemic was tightening its grip. In a city defined by motion, silence became the new soundtrack. A metropolis known for its sprawl suddenly felt small, still, and strangely empty.

The coronavirus outbreak, which began in late 2019, had by then become a global crisis, unfolding across borders, neighborhoods, and hospital corridors with staggering speed. Illness and loss spread faster than we could process.
